Good planning and development takes a future oriented view to aligning delivery (of services and or products) to meet the changing need and make the most of available resources. The product, service or model can be in relation to a geographical area or local community, a particular population group or a clinical stream. A focus on defining the issue, need or problem through the available evidence is a core aspect of planning and design. Evidence is a broad term, which covers a wide variety of information and data, and assists in telling a story on the current and desired future state, and informing the management path ahead. Accessing the range of information and intelligence that exists to support a robust process involves sourcing information from multiple avenues. Regardless of the broader context and drivers it is important to undertake the task of planning and development with a focus on implementation and the change management required to support its uptake and success. |
